Operating with a mission statement to provide excellent legal services to the public through knowledge, professionalism, dedication, accountability, and innovation, Don Evans, PLLC, has established itself as an industry leader. In fact, with his specialization and high-level of expertise in regards to 18-wheeler accidents, along with the unique dynamics of his firm, Don Evans has no direct competition as he has been able to create his own niche in the legal industry.

Don Evans is a recognizable face and household name in Mississippi. From billboards to television, it is hard to find someone who does not know Don. Oftentimes, Don Evans has been asked to explain the secrets to his successes. Always modest, Don Evans will brush off the question, humbly stating that it was just hard work.

Don Evans is the definition of a Renaissance man. The first attorney in Mississippi to advertise his services on television, Don Evans is a true innovator. Together with a fortitude for hard work, dedication, and knowledge, it is Don Evans' vast experiences that have greatly attributed to his successes, however, few people are aware of his diverse, and very unique, background. Raised in Vaiden, Mississippi, Don Evans is one of nine brothers. Don Evans grew up working on farms and in the sawmill. While in high school, Don played football. Unfortunately, Don's football career was cut short after he suffered several concussions. Don went on to attend college, but he always worked during the summers. He worked on the offshore oilfields in the Gulf Coast, as well as working in Montana as a firefighter for the United States Forest Service
.

Subsequently, Don Evans was accepted into the University of Mississippi School of Law. As a law student at Ole Miss, Don understood that he would not be able to work during the school year. This was a concern as he had to pay for his living expenses. But for Don Evans, where there is a will, there is a way. He needed a job that would pay him enough money during the summer to last him throughout the year. Don stated he had heard about positions on the pipelines in the Northern United States that paid well, though many people discouraged Don by telling him that there was no way he could just travel to one of the sites and get hired on the spot, Mr. Evans said that he knew if he went there, he could get them to hire him.

And he was right. Maybe it was his perseverance. Maybe the foremen could tell he was a hard worker. Whatever the case, Don was hired on the spot. He worked the pipelines in Michigan and Pennsylvania during the summers, thirteen hours a day, seven days a week. Don recounts that the hours were long and the work was hard. But he made enough money each summer to last him the entire year.

After law school, Don Evans worked in the legal offices of the highway department. He later took a position teaching eighth grade science at People's Junior High School. In fact, Don recalled that Governor Phil Bryant was one of his students. At this same time, Don was working for future Governor Bill Waller, as an intern. Ironically, Don also remembers that the Mississippi Supreme Court Chief Justice Bill Waller, Jr., was the janitor for the office at that time. After teaching for a year, Don decided to open his own law practice. His last day of teaching fell on a Friday and Don Evans, not wanting to miss a day of work, opened the doors to his law practice that following Monday.

With only three hundred dollars in the bank and the bills for rent on his apartment and office, car payment, office equipment and supplies, as well as payroll looming, Don Evans remarked that he never panicked. For Don Evans, failure was never an option.

Don knew what had to be done and, simply put, he did it. It was not long before his general practice began to grow. At that time, he was handling personal injury and criminal cases. According to Don, he would not be surprised if, at one time, he had handled more criminal cases than any other attorney in the state. Fifteen years later, Don Evans dedicated his practice solely to personal injury law, collecting fees based on a contingency agreement only. Other than taking a retainer fee for five dollars on a criminal matter, Don Evans hasn't taken money directly from a client in approximately forty-five years. This is something that makes Don Evans extremely proud. The success of his firm has been built by his and his staff's hard work.

If you are around Don Evans for any length of time, you will be made aware of his multitude of experiences through his amassed anecdotes. Not Many people are able to recall a time when a bear chased them down a mountain only to escape by lunging forward, dropping into a roll, and having the bear roll on top of them and run back to her bear cubs. Sometimes it is these fascinating stories that give the most insight to Don Evans.
